Helping the Single Parent
January 18th, 2006 (Parenting)
If you are a single parent then why not be a “highly successful” single parent? Why not embrace your position in life with your child rather than wish that things could be better “if only there were two parents”?
The truth is that the results of being a single parent is what you make of it, not what the statistics say. In order to feel good about your situation, and to have enough energy to raise your child in a healthy manner, you must take care of yourself. Below are 3 tips to help:
1. Create a positive atmosphere in your house by offering praise to your kids as often as possible.
2. Form a large and active network of support for yourself. Keep active lists of family, relatives, and friends that can help be there for you in times of need.
3. Live with humor! Having a sense of humor is a necessity in life, especially if you are a single parent who may get stressed out at times with your child.
